Aleksandra Kanjuo Mrčela is president of the Slovenian Sociological Association from 2017.

She was Vice president of the Slovenian Sociological Association from 2013 to 2016 and from 2015 she coordinates SSA stream on Economy and Society.

Aleksandra Kanjuo Mrčela is professor of Economic Sociology and Sociology of Work at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana. She is a researcher at the Organisations and Human Resources Research Centre at the Faculty of social sciences, University of Ljubljana.
Her teaching, research and consultancy activities are in the filds of industrial relations, gender and economy, ownership and post-privatisational changes in Slovene companies. From 1999-2001 she was a visiting scholar at the London School of Economics and Political Sciences (at the department of Industrial Relations). Since 2003 she is the coordinator of the national center for European Foundation for Living and Working conditions (Dublin) at the Organisations and HR Research Centre, FSS. Since 2004 she is a member of the Network of Experts in the Fields of Employment, Social Inclusion and Gender Equality Issues (European Commission, Employment and Social Affairs DG). From 2007 to 2011 she was Vice-Dean at the Faculty for Social Sciences. From 2015 she is Head of Doctoral school of the University of Ljubljana. From 2011 she was associate editor and from 2015 editor of Social Politics: International Journal in Gender, State and Society.
